PRESS RELEASE

For immediate Dissemination

October 7th, 2024

The most recent information from the Hurricane Tracking Center and the
NWS has Milton as a major hurricane. The plot places it directly towards Tampa Bay on Wednesday. It appears to be certain it is going to hit Tampa Bay. The bands will bring destructive winds, heavy rain, and a significant amount of flooding. The path and eye wall, being unpredictable, may hit the west coast south of our lodge, the worst case scenario, we see winds exceeding 130 mph, or it could move over the state north of us, bringing us a huge surge of water. Clearly, none of these predictions have a good side.

In an abundance of precaution, the lodge will remain closed until Friday.

At that point, a damage assessment will determine its reopening. Please, if possible, relocate to the southern portion of the state or the panhandle, now! Attempting to travel the roads in heavy rain and strong winds is not suggested.

In closing, property is replaceable. The safety of our members and those
in our community is paramount. Stay safe, seek shelter and assume standing water may be deeper than perceived.

If you need a place to shelter, please call me directly (813.376.8949 or
email: elks2383members@yahoo.com) to assist in finding shelter. Please take with you: personnel items, medication, sleeping material, clothing, and food needing no electricity to prep.
